Southwest Community Ministries
Southwest Community Ministries was originally established as Valley Ministries in 1978 by a group of pastors & lay leaders in southwest Jefferson County; the group initially operated a food pantry. Read more about our history here.
Today SWCM serves an ever-growing, ever-changing community and is supported by many entities including the 26 member churches of Southwest Community Ministries.
Southwest River Ramble & Roast
The Southwest River Ramble & Roast will be held this year on Sunday, May 19th. Gather pledges for yourself or organize your business/community organization, Sunday School Class, Women's Circle or equivalent group at church & participate as a group! After the walk/run down the levee loop (go as fast or slow as you want & as far as you want), come back to Riverside Farnsley-Moreman Landing for a fun-filled & relaxing time eating grilled hot dogs & other treats, & playing family-friendly games. No additional charge for the fun once you've paid your Ramble & Roast entry fee & gathered pledges for your walk! They'll be lots of prizes-big & small! A new community partner will be presenting us with thousands of pounds of food they've collected for our Food Closet that day. You won't want to miss any of the fun!
